World Record...Almost

When getting the eggs out of the chicken coop, I came across this HUGE egg. By far the largest chicken egg we've ever seen.
Here's a picture of it next to a large size egg:
The picture doesn't really do it justice.
It's much more impressive in person.
I measured it and it was 6 1/2 inches around by 7 inches.         Wowza!

Here's another picture of it next to our other eggs. It's so big, when trying to close the egg carton, it doesn't even come close to shutting.

I thought maybe we had a record holder but it turns out chickens have laid larger eggs. Hard to believe. The record holders weren't that much bigger, maybe 1/2 inch.

We cracked it open for breakfast, it had two yolks, I guess that explains why it was so big!

Whale Watching

Yesterday was Elio's first time out on the ocean. We went whale watching with Uncle Richie, Auntie Corinne, and Nonna on my dad's boat.
Of course I've been on the ocean a time or two, and every time I went, I ended up getting sick. Since I haven't been in a while, I though maybe things would be different this time. I guess not, I ended up getting the sickies, and had to take a little nap, but everyone else had a great time.
Elio was a little scared at first, and wanted to go back, after he started seeing the whales, he had lot's of fun.

 Ready to go!
Uncle was kind enough to take a picture of Nico and I sleeping...
at least it wasn't of me getting sick.

 Elio and Nonna having fun.
Click on the picture to enlarge, you can kinda see the whale.

While we were whale watching, Daddy and Nonno were picking up our new tractor. Here's a few pic's:

Goodbye Deck

We have to dying to take down the deck since we bought our home. It's old, rotten and wasn't taken care of, plus we didn't really like the layout.
This weekend we had a sunny day and time to work on the house, so the deck came down. Kyle took the north side of the deck off, and will finish taking off the rest when the weather clears up. I can't believe how much better it looks. The view is amazing already, and I can't image how nice it's going to look once we get our yard cleaned up and landscaped.
I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the deck, however after having no deck, now I'm not so sure. I feel like there are so many possibilities.
Back to the drawing board  I guess.
There's still a lot of work to do before we can put up a new deck, but we are one step closer.

Oh, here's a picture of my favorite tree in the yard. I LOVE this time of the year. I look forward to the tree blooming. It only lasts for a short period of time, but I enjoy every minute of it!

All Better!

I'm more than ever thankful for my wonderful husband and family (and antibiotics!).
I came down with a really horrible case of strep throat.
I know what you're thinking:
Strep throat? I haven't had that since I was 10?
Well, me either, and I had forgotten how incredibly painful it is. For the first 3 days I could hardly get out of bed, literally. I could barely talk for about 5 days, because my tonsils were so swollen, they were almost touching (gross I know). It felt like I had two golf balls on each side of my neck.
I'm better now, but I hope I never have that again!

Here we go again...

It was check up time on Monday. Elio went in for his 2 1/2 year check up (he was a little late) and Nico for his 1 year check up (he was a little late too). The boys are both healthy, developing normally and doing great.
 Here's what the doc said:

Elio-
38 1/2 inches and in the 90th percentile for height
31 1/4 lbs and in the 50th to 75th percentile for weight

Nico-
33 1/4 inches and off the charts AGAIN for height
Basically he is the same size as a 18 month old who is in the 95th percentile for height, but he is only 12 months!
24.2 lbs and in the 75th percentile for weight

Can you believe how big these guys are getting?
